# Chrome: No internet — ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED (You are not connected to the internet)

**Code:** `ERR_INTERNET_DISCONNECTED` · **Category:** Browser · **Seen on:** Chrome, Edge, Windows

Chrome sees no working network connection on the device, so it cannot load any page.

## Meaning

This page appears when the operating system reports no active connection, or a network adapter, VPN, firewall or proxy setting blocks everything. It usually has nothing to do with the website. Check Wi-Fi/Ethernet first, then VPN and proxy settings, then adapter drivers.

## Common causes

- Wi-Fi or Ethernet disconnected, or airplane mode on
- Router or modem offline
- VPN or security software blocking all traffic
- Broken proxy settings pointing to a dead proxy
- Network adapter disabled or driver problem

## Quick fix

1. Check that Wi-Fi/Ethernet is connected and airplane mode is off
2. Restart the router and your device
3. Turn off VPN/proxy and test again

## Detailed fix by platform

### Windows

1. Reset the stack from an admin terminal: `netsh winsock reset` then `netsh int ip reset` then restart
2. Settings → Network & Internet → Network reset if it persists

### Chrome

1. Settings → System → Open your computer's proxy settings and make sure no proxy is set unless you need one

## How to diagnose

1. **Scope** — Does any other app or device get online?
2. **Router** — Is the router working?
3. **VPN** — Does it work with VPN and proxy off?
