# Chrome: Your connection was interrupted — A network change was detected. ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED

**Code:** `ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED` · **Category:** Browser · **Seen on:** Chrome, Edge, Windows

The device switched networks (Wi-Fi to mobile data, VPN on/off, IP renewed) while the page was loading, so the browser aborted the request.

## Meaning

Chrome cancels in-flight requests when the network configuration changes. It is usually a one-off after reconnecting, but a repeating error points to a flapping connection, a VPN that keeps reconnecting, or two adapters competing for the default route.

## Common causes

- Wi-Fi roaming between access points or switching to another network
- VPN connecting, disconnecting or reconnecting
- Unstable router/ISP or DHCP lease renewing
- Multiple active adapters (Wi-Fi + Ethernet + virtual adapters)
- Power saving turning the adapter off

## Quick fix

1. Reload the page once the connection is stable
2. Disable unused adapters and VPN auto-reconnect loops
3. Update the network driver and turn off adapter power saving

## Detailed fix by platform

### Windows

1. Device Manager → your adapter → Power Management → untick "Allow the computer to turn off this device"
2. `ipconfig /release` then `ipconfig /renew` then `ipconfig /flushdns`

### Chrome

1. Try an incognito window (extensions off) to rule out proxy/VPN extensions

## How to diagnose

1. **Timing** — Does it happen when switching networks or at random?
2. **VPN** — Is a VPN reconnecting?
3. **Adapters** — More than one active adapter?
