# Firefox: The page isn’t redirecting properly — Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete

**Code:** `The page isn’t redirecting properly` · **Category:** Browser · **Seen on:** Firefox, Nginx, Apache

Firefox's wording for a redirect loop (Chrome calls it ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS).

## Meaning

Two or more redirect rules send the browser back and forth. It can also be caused by blocked or corrupted cookies when a login or consent redirect depends on them. Clear the site's cookies first; if it persists, the site's redirect rules (HTTP/HTTPS, www, language, login) must be fixed.

## Common causes

- HTTP⇄HTTPS or www⇄non-www redirect rules that undo each other
- Proxy/CDN terminating TLS while the app redirects to HTTPS again
- Login/consent redirect without a working cookie
- CMS URL settings differing from the real address
- Cookies blocked or corrupted

## Quick fix

1. Clear cookies and site data for the domain and reload
2. Check the redirect chain with `curl -IL`
3. Fix the conflicting rules or forwarded-protocol headers

## Detailed fix by platform

### Firefox

1. Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → remove the site, reload

### Linux

1. `curl -sIL --max-redirs 10 https://example.com | grep -i -E "^(HTTP|location)"`

## How to diagnose

1. **Cookies** — Fixed after clearing cookies?
2. **Chain** — Where does the Location header loop?
3. **Proxy** — Is TLS terminated before the app?
