Meaning
Manual profiles include specific devices. New devices must be registered in the developer account and the profile regenerated. Automatic signing does this for you when the device is connected.
Common causes
- Device not registered in the developer account
- Profile generated before the device was added
- Using an App Store/ad-hoc profile for debugging
⚡ Quick fix
- Enable Automatically manage signing
- Register the device and regenerate the profile
- Download profiles in Xcode → Settings → Accounts
Detailed fix by platform
Xcode
# Signing & Capabilities → Automatically manage signing ✓ (with the device connected)
How to diagnose
- Device — Registered? (Devices list)
- Profile — Type and device list
