Azure Pipelines: No hosted parallelism has been purchased or granted
The Azure DevOps organization has no Microsoft-hosted parallel jobs, so pipelines can’t run on hosted agents.
Seen on:
Azure
Meaning
New organizations must request the free grant (form) or buy parallel jobs. Until then, use a self-hosted agent.
Common causes
- New organization without the free grant
- Private project without paid parallel jobs
- Grant request pending
⚡ Quick fix
- Request the free grant via aka.ms/azpipelines-parallelism-request
- Purchase parallel jobs
- Use a self-hosted agent pool meanwhile
Detailed fix by platform
YAML
- bash
pool: name: SelfHosted # instead of vmImage: ubuntu-latest
How to diagnose
- Parallelism — Organization settings → Parallel jobs
- Project — Public or private?
