Seen on:
Python
Meaning
Averages and ratios over empty data are the usual cause. Python raises instead of returning infinity.
Common causes
- Empty collection length used as divisor
- Zero from user input
- Rounding a tiny value to 0
⚡ Quick fix
- Guard the divisor: avg = total / n if n else 0
- Validate inputs
- Use math.inf deliberately if that’s meaningful
Detailed fix by platform
Python
ratio = clicks / impressions if impressions else 0.0
How to diagnose
- Expression — Which division?
- Data — Why is the divisor 0?
