ReplyError: NOAUTH Authentication required.
The Redis server requires a password (or ACL user) but the client didn’t authenticate.
Seen on:
Node.js
Meaning
Managed Redis and production servers enable requirepass/ACLs. The client URL needs redis://:password@host:6379 or the password option.
Common causes
- Password missing from the connection URL
- Wrong env var
- Using TLS endpoint without rediss://
⚡ Quick fix
- Add credentials: redis://default:password@host:6379
- Use rediss:// for TLS endpoints
- Check WRONGPASS errors for incorrect passwords
Detailed fix by platform
Node.js
createClient({ url: process.env.REDIS_URL })
How to diagnose
- URL — Includes credentials?
- TLS — rediss required?
