denied: requested access to the resource is denied (docker push)
You’re logged in, but not allowed to push to that repository — usually the image isn’t tagged with your own username/organisation.
Seen on:
Docker
Meaning
docker push myapp tries docker.io/library/myapp, an official namespace you can’t write to. You must tag the image as yourname/myapp (or registry/org/app) first. It also happens when your account lacks write permission on the org repo.
Common causes
- Image not tagged with your namespace
- Logged in as a different user than the repo owner
- No write permission on the organisation repository
- Repository doesn’t exist and auto-creation isn’t allowed
⚡ Quick fix
- Tag with your namespace then push
- Check docker info for the logged-in user
- Ask an org admin for write access
Detailed fix by platform
Docker
- bash
docker tag myapp:latest yourname/myapp:1.0 docker push yourname/myapp:1.0
How to diagnose
- Tag — Does the name start with your user/org?
- User — Logged-in account
- Permission — Write access on the repo?
