Conflict: AnotherOperationInProgress — Another operation is in progress on the resource
Azure is still processing a previous change on the same resource, so new operations are rejected until it finishes.
Seen on:
Azure
Meaning
AKS upgrades/scales, VNet updates, App Gateway changes and parallel Terraform/pipeline runs often collide. Wait for the running operation or check its status.
Common causes
- Previous update still running (scale, upgrade, deployment)
- Parallel pipelines changing the same resource
- Stuck operation on the resource
⚡ Quick fix
- Wait and retry
- Check provisioningState / activity log
- Serialise deployments in CI
Detailed fix by platform
Azure CLI
- bash
az aks show -g rg -n aks1 --query provisioningState az monitor activity-log list -g rg --offset 1h --query "[].{op:operationName.value,status:status.value}" -o table
How to diagnose
- State — provisioningState Updating?
- Activity log — Running operations
- CI — Concurrent runs?
