Your PC needs to be repaired: The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information (0xc000000f)
Windows Boot Manager can’t find a valid BCD entry or boot files — after disk changes, failed updates, cloning or dual-boot changes.
Seen on:
Windows
Meaning
The BCD store tells the boot manager where Windows is. Changing partitions, cloning to a new disk, removing a Linux/second OS, or BIOS boot-order changes break it.
Common causes
- BCD corrupted or pointing to a moved partition
- EFI partition damaged or missing
- Disk cloned/migrated
- Wrong boot device order
⚡ Quick fix
- Use Startup Repair from recovery media
- Rebuild boot files with bcdboot
- Check BIOS boot order/UEFI vs legacy mode
Detailed fix by platform
Windows
- powershell
# Recovery Command Prompt (UEFI): assign the EFI partition a letter, then diskpart list vol select vol 4 assign letter=S exit bcdboot C:\Windows /s S: /f UEFI
How to diagnose
- Partitions — EFI partition present?
- Mode — UEFI vs Legacy
- Changes — Cloning/dual boot recently?
