A kernel-mode program raised an exception nothing handled — usually a driver; sometimes caused by Fast Startup or RAM.

Seen on: Windows

Meaning

Network adapters, storage controllers and antivirus drivers are frequent culprits. If it happens at boot, disabling Fast Startup or booting into Safe Mode to remove the driver helps.

Common causes

  • Faulty driver (network, storage, antivirus)
  • Fast Startup resuming a bad driver state
  • Faulty RAM
  • Incompatible software after upgrade

⚡ Quick fix

  1. Update/roll back the named driver
  2. Disable Fast Startup
  3. Test RAM

Detailed fix by platform

Windows
